The serious head injuries suffered by retired Forumla One driver Michael Schumacher were in fact caused by a mounted camera on his helmet, which he was wearing at the time of his skiing accident last year.

Reports in the Metro explain that Schumacher was critically injured when he fell and struck his head on a rock in the French Alps, but it has now emerged that the GoPro attached to the side of his protective gear was the unfortunate cause of the damage.
Formula One commentator Jean-Louis Moncet made the claim after speaking to the driving champion’s son, Mick, who was with his father when the accident happened in December.
According to the source, the seven-time world champion is still immobile and unable to speak, but has been taken home from a rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland and is now being looked after by a team of experts in a specially designed facility at his £35m home by Lake Geneva.
Moncet told reporters: “The problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the GoPro camera that he had on his helmet that injured his brain. I saw his son and he told me that Schumi is waking up very slowly; very slowly.
Doctors say that the 45-year-old has made progress but it is still unclear how much of a recovery is possible. Moncet added: “Although things are going at a slow pace, he has a lot of time, I would say he has his whole life in front of him to get back on track.”
