Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has made it clear that he wants out of Spain and a chance to join the Premier League – but he may have reasons to leave beyond money.
According to the Express, bad blood between Ramos and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, and which ultimately led to Mourinho’s termination, has put Ramos on the outs with the club. With current salary demands estimated at £7 million per year, the Express reports that Real Madrid is more inclined to get rid of Ramos than acquiesce like they did in 2013 when Ramos gave the club an ultimatum to fire Mourinho or see their superstar lead a players’ revolt against the club.
With Man United boss Louis van Gaal readying a £40 million bid for the three-time La Liga Best Defender, Ramos could be forcing himself into a major contender in the Premier League that could knock Chelsea and Mourinho off their pedestals.
Ramos has played all twelve of his senior seasons in La Liga – two-plus seasons with Sevilla and the last 10 with Real Madrid. In 314 appearances with Real Madrid, Ramos has 40 goals, three awards for La Liga Best Defender and four UEFA Team of the Year honors.
