Former Tottenham Hotpsur boss Tim Sherwood is believed to be the current favourite, but the former Arsenal and England defender has now claimed that he would do even better.
Campbell used social media website Instagram to express his interest in the position, saying: “Another one bites the dust! Surely I’ve got a chance! Sol Campbell manager!
“To the end of the season. It would be a challenge that I would want to take head on and win!”
However, Villa first-team coach Scott Marshall, who is currently acting as caretaker, was unimpressed, responsing: “This is a big club and it is a big job and it’s not somewhere for someone to cut their teeth. I think a manager with experience is probably necessary.”
