Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand has thanked Fulham for signing Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou.
United are set to face the Greek side in next month’s Champions League knock-outs and Mitroglou, 25, was the Super League club’s star man.
The forward has netted 16 goals in 17 appearances so far this season, including a cracking hat-trick away at Anderlecht in the Champions League group stage.
The Greek international’s arrival at Craven Cottage means Ferdinand and co. will have one less thing to worry about ahead of the two-legged clash with Olympiakos and the former England defender thanked Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen, who used to be assistant manager at United, on twitter.
