Following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger decided to loan out controversial goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Polish stopper – famed for his smoking antics, occasional howlers and infrequent wondersaves – has made a fairly solid start with new employers Roma.
Clean sheets have been rare – just one in nine games – but defeats have been equally rare – also just one.
Szczesny almost kept his second Roma shutout in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina, but he was beaten by Khouma Babacar deep in second-half stoppage time.
The Gunners loanee enjoyed a fairly quiet shift, although he did thrust himself into the spotlight with one moment of possible madness during the first half.
Racing off his line to collect a through pass, Szczesny tested the officials’ judgement by handling the ball right on the edge of his penalty area.
Did Szczesny’s hands touch the ball outside of the 18-yard box? Watch the video and decide for yourself.
