Argentinian sports marketing company owner says signing Beckham is possible…
David Beckham could come out of retirement and sign a short term deal for Argentinian giants River Plate, reports Argentine website Diario Veloz.
Back in December, it was reported in the Mirror that Bolivian champions Bolivar wanted to offer the former England skipper a huge package for a short term deal, and now it appears that another South American club is keen to try out ‘brand Beckham’.
The 38-year-old retired in the summer following a glittering career that included spells at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG.
Despite this, Guillermo Tofoni, the owner of multi-million sports marketing company World Eleven, reckons River Plate could tempt one of football’s most famous sons back on to the field.
“David Beckham to play in River? Why not?” he said.
“In football, everything is possible,” Tofoni continued, before noting that Beckham’s former employers LA Galaxy have the same branding as the Argentine side.
Tofoni’s company World Eleven organise all of Argentina’s high-profile friendlies, and clearly have some financial pulling power in the footballing world.
The businessman though, says if Beckham signs it won’t just be for money, but for a chance to sample South American football.
“If it comes, it would not just be for the money, but to play our football, too,” he added.
Beckham amassed 115 caps for England during his career, winning multiple league, cup and individual awards.
