Robert Allenby has withdrawn from a Californian PGA Tour event after he was kidnapped and bashed in Hawaii.
Allenby was in a wine bar on Saturday after missing the cut at the Hawaiian Open before he was robbed of his phone, credit card and cash.
“On the advice of my personal doctor I have decided to withdraw from this week’s (tournament),” Allenby is quoted as saying by Reuters.
“This will enable me to ensure I am fully recovered prior to rejoining the PGA Tour. I anticipate a full recovery and look forward to returning in the near future.”
Allenby suffered facial injuries in the attack and says he cannot remember much in the hours after being kidnapped and robbed.
