Arsenal, the Express report, are set to make an opening offer of £35m for the signature of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski – if they fail in their pursuit of Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema.
The Poland international is said to be Arsene Wenger‘s back-up to Benzema in this summer’s transfer window, as the French manager is chasing an ‘exceptional’ player before the market closes.
El Confidencial journalist Kike Marin said: “The second option is Lewandowski.”
Lewandowski is Pep Guardiola‘s first-choice centre-forward at the Allianz Arena, and it would certainly come as a shock if the former Barcelona boss agreed to his sale.
He scored 17 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances.
