Man United forward Robin van Persie will apparently not be joining S. S. Lazio in Serie A after the club denied having the money to sign him.
According to the Express, the Rome-based Serie A club feels that van Persie is too expensive. The 31-year-old forward has been seen in Rome this past week, which begs the question as to whether the Man United star was only going there to see the sights as opposed to talking shop with the city’s football club.
But according to Lazio executive Igli Tare on Lazio Style Radio, van Persie is beyond the club’s means to acquire: “On Van Persie, all I can say is that I respect him as a striker but unfortunately, he is outside our parameters.
“There has never been a meeting, this is gossip, not transfer news. We don’t want to create illusions, this is not true.”
Van Persie has been linked to several Serie A clubs including Roma, Fenerbahce and Juventus amidst reports that the club is ready to part ways with their aging striker.
