The 31-year-old has not had his best season this year, struggling to earn a regular place upfront for the Red Devils due to increased competition for places and with several injury problems halting his progress.
It had been thought that this could lead to van Persie quitting Old Trafford, with PSV forward Memphis Depay expected to come in as a possible replacement upfront.
However, despite the Turkish giants being willing to pay his £220,000 per week wages, van Persie wants to remain with United as he feels he could land himself another Premier League title win under the guidance of Louis van Gaal, who has taken the club back into the Champions League places in an impressive first season in charge.
