Manchester United striker Robin van Persie faces being dropped for Manchester United’s game against Crystal Palace on Saturday and might have to endure the added humiliation of being replaced by young striker James Wilson, according to CaughtOffside.
Van Persie arrived as one of the best strikers in the world, and fired the club to the title in his first season at Old Trafford. But the Dutchman has struggled for form this season, and his manager has been forced to look for alternatives
James Wilson has impressed in the club’s youth ranks, and has scored six goals in the Under-21s this season. The youngster even bagged a brace for the first team when he was given his first start against Hull at the end of last season.

The Englishman’s form caught Louis Van Gaal’s eye, and he was given a few minutes at the end of last week’s Manchester derby. Reports now suggest that a start against Crystal Palace could be on the cards.
In contrast to the Manchester United youngster’s sparking form, Van Persie has scored just three goals in all competitions this campaign. With Radamel Falcao still suffering from a calf injury, Wilson could partner Wayne Rooney up front, as part of an all-English attack.
