In a controversial decision, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell decided to suspend Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for two games for a domestic violence incident involving his then-fiance.
This has caused many NFL fans to question Goodell’s logic since Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is expected to be suspended a whole season for failed drug tests.
This outrage prompted Goodell to defend his decision. He pointed out that this is Rice’s first incident while doing so. “You gotta deal with some facts, okay? When we have a drug program that’s collectively bargained, and it has a step-process, it takes four incidents before you actually reach a suspension in a drug-related case. So, you have to respond to facts here,” the commissioner said to NFL.
The maligned commissioner also stated that he believes Rice is a good guy and is genuinely remorseful of his actions. Rice will look to put the past behind him as he serves his two-game suspension.
