Dutchman impressed with way club has improved under Garcia.
Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman believes that the club should now start to consider themselves among the favourites for the Scudetto.
The Giallorossi have started the campaign with five consecutive wins to sit atop the Serie A table, and host Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend.
With two points separating them and their rivals, the summer signing believes that the capital club must now continue their bright start under coach Rudi Garcia and raise their objectives.
“Juventus remain the favourites for the Scudetto, but Roma are there too,” he told Sky Sport Italia as reported by Goal.com. “I was so impressed by the way we celebrated the win at Sampdoria, all together including the kit staff.
“Head coach Rudi Garcia came in and improved everything that wasn’t working. We’ve got great players here, as Miralem Pjanic is a real talent and Daniele De Rossi knows how to do everything.
“I don’t feel pressure because of the sum invested in me, no.”
The midfield trio has won plenty of plaudits thus far, while Francesco Totti celebrates his 37th birthday on Friday in style after making an impressive start to the season.
Having also strengthened the defence over the summer, the Giallorossi look a much more organised and assured unit in comparison to previous years and with no European distractions they will undoubtedly be a threat this year.
However, supporters have been keen to remain cautious at such an early stage of the season, although Strootman is clearly thinking big in his first year at the club and believes that they can achieve something immediately under the stewardship of Garcia.
