Frenchman keen to keep his best players ahead of first season in charge.
Roma boss Rudi Garcia is hopeful that he can keep his current squad together as Tottenham remain interested in Erik Lamela, Pablo Osvaldo and Miralem Pjanic.
The former Lille boss is set for his first year in charge of the capital club, but following a summer of spending it is understood that the Giallorossi need to balance the books and will sacrifice one key player.
Osvaldo remains the ideal sale as he continues to have his issues with the club’s supporters, but speculation over the past week has suggested that Tottenham are more interested in signing Lamela, while Pjanic had been linked with a switch too.
However, Garcia is hopeful that he won’t lose any of the trio and the club will be able to field a strong side as they look to return to the Scudetto picture this season.
“This is a match-day, so I will only answer questions relating to the match,” Garcia told journalists after the win over Ternana as reported by Football Italia.
“We will be stronger if we keep the current squad, but we’ll have to wait and see with regards to the future.”
The key to Lamela’s future is still in the hands of Gareth Bale, who looks set for a switch to Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
Should the Welshman move to Spain, Spurs will undoubtedly step up their interest in Lamela with Osvaldo potentially following him to White Hart Lane.
However, the latest reports in Italy appear to suggest that Osvaldo is closing in on a switch to Southampton, while Lamela could snub Premier League interest to sign an improved deal with Roma.
Meanwhile, Garcia said he hopes midfielder Kevin Strootman’s injury wasn’t serious after he went off with a sprained ankle in the 2-1 win, while he was pleased that new recruit Maicon got a full 90-minutes under his belt.
