Ivory Coast international closing on Serie A switch.
Arsenal forward Gervinho has arrived in Italy on Sunday to undergo a medical ahead of completing his €8m move to Roma.
It is understood that the deal is almost complete, with a few minor details left to be decided before the transfer is officially announced.
Roma boss Rudi Garcia is said to have specifically requested his former star this summer, having spent a successful stint together at Lille and will be delighted the club have finally been able to wrap up a deal.
Gervinho arrived at Fiumicino airport on Sunday morning and was quoted as saying that he is “very happy, it was my dream” by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old will now travel to the Policlinico Gemelli to undergo the medical tests before putting pen to paper on a deal with the Giallorossi.
It has been reported by the media in Italy that Roma have agreed to pay Arsenal €8m plus performance-related bonuses in order to secure his signature, with the club still expecting striker Pablo Osvaldo to leave before the transfer deadline.
The Italian international has been linked with various Premier League clubs over the past month, although no agreement has been reached partially due to Roma’s demands.
Nevertheless, after passing his medical and signing the contract, Gervinho is expected to fly out to Boston to join up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour.
He will hope to make an immediate impact in the Italian capital, although he will face stiff competition for a place in the starting line-up alongside the likes of Francesco Totti, Erik Lamela and Mattia Destro.
