Giallorossi could be forced into selling Argentinian.
Roma may be forced into sacrificing starlet Erik Lamela, while Tottenham also remain interested in midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, director of sport Walter Sabatini was back in London on Tuesday to continue negotiations with the interested parties, with Marco Borriello being sold to West Ham also on the list of his priorities.
However, the transfer speculation that has been dominating headlines over the past few days surrounds Lamela, with the 21-year-old reportedly the subject of a €35m bid.
Having sold Pablo Osvaldo to Southampton earlier this week in a deal worth €17m, it had been believed that Roma did not necessarily have to continue their selling in order to balance the books.
However, the pink paper reports that while the Osvaldo fee will have settled the numbers in terms of money spent on players this summer, it has not yet accounted for the decision of Daniele De Rossi to stay at the club, while Francesco Totti will receive a new contract.
Both Lamela and Pjanic are also expected to want new deals if it is decided that they will remain in the Italian capital, but it is reported that the demands of the trio are too high to meet them all and therefore the club are willing to sell.
As a result, speculated discussions are set to continue with Tottenham over the coming days while Arsenal have also made enquiries, with Gazzetta suggesting that Roma are looking at Chelsea striker Demba Ba and are hopeful of discussing a deal during Sabatini’s trip to London.
It is unlikely to prove to be a popular move with the supporters if Roma decide to sell Lamela, who after scoring 15 goals last season has been tipped for a very bright future.
