Italian capital now looks to be Portuguese’s most likely destination next season.
Serie A giants AS Roma have now joined the race to sign unwanted Manchester United wide man Luis Nani this summer, reports the Daily Mail.
The mercurial Portugal international has been the subject of much speculation of late linking him with a move away from Old Trafford when the transfer window reopened at the start of this month, with the likes of AS Monaco and Galatasaray also said to be keen on landing the winger.
However, with the big-spending Ligue 2 champions having still to even register an official bid with the Red Devils for Nani so far this summer and the Turkish giants having not followed up their earlier interest in the player with an improved offer on their original £6 million bid, the path now appears clear for the Romans to get their man, although only if they meed United’s £12m valuation of the player that is.
The 26-year-old, whose contract in the north west now only runs until June 30 2014, has scored 40 goals in 212 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League champions since arriving at United from Sporting Lisbon in June 2007 for 25.5m euros.
