Serie A team rule out midfielder departure.
Manchester City have no chance of signing Daniele De Rossi in January, according to Roma president James Pallotta.
The 29 year-old midfielder has been the subject of intense transfer speculation following a disappointing season disrupted by injury and suspension. He has also struggled to adapt to new Roma coach Zdenek Zeman’s 4-3-3 formation.
Pallotta insists that De Rossi still has a future at the club, though.
He told Corriere dello Sport: “We have absolutely no intention of selling De Rossi. We have not had any contact from anyone and we have not received any offers. It is just speculation.”
De Rossi has almost five years to run on his Roma contract and is thought to be the highest paid player in Serie A.

If there’s one enforcer above all others City boss Roberto Mancini would love to sign, it’s Roma’s Daniele de Rossi.
The Italian tactician has been coveting his compatriot for some time and De Rossi was City’s number one midfield target last summer, before Mancini opted for Everton’s Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia.
Mancini admires De Rossi’s versatility, particularly because he is comfortable in both midfield and at centre-half and believes the Italy international provide the perfect replacement for Yaya Toure, who is due to spend at least a month at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.
However, Roma are been adamant that De Rossi, who is the club’s vice-captain behind Franceso Totti, is not for sale at any price and Mancini is set to be disappointed again in January.
