It will cost the Red Devils a huge fee to land the midfielder.
Manchester United will have to pay a ‘huge’ fee if they want to sign Kevin Strootman, says AS Roma president James Palotta.

Chelsea ready to rival Manchester United’s interest in Kevin Strootman.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the midfielder ever since Louis van Gaal took charge as manager over the summer.
Van Gaal knows Strootman well from their time working together with the Netherlands national team and the United boss is a known admirer of the 24-year-old.
The midfield ace has only just returned from a cruciate ligament injury that kept him out of action for the best part of a year, but despite that Roma seem keen to do all they can to keep hold of the Dutchman.
“We want to put the best team on the pitch, that’s the most important thing,” Palotta was quoted by CaughtOffside.
“But we’re businessmen. If someone comes in with a stupid number for a player, you have to listen to it. You can’t just say ‘no, no matter what.
“My view is that I don’t want Kevin to go, for example, but if someone offers a huge amount, you at least have to listen to them.”
Van Gaal is on the hunt for a new star in the middle of the park and would love to add the box-to-box capabilities of Strootman to his squad, but with Roma holding all the cards a deal looks some way off.
