RWB: Nathaniel Clyne – 6/10
Everton’s left flank does not carry the same threat that it did in the Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar days, but Clyne was nevertheless cautious in attack, allowing him to be solid in defence.
CM: Lucas Leiva – 7/10
The Brazilian put in an excellent shift before his 79th-minute withdrawal, which came just moments after he should have been shown a second yellow card for a blatant trip on McCarthy.
CM: James Milner – 7/10
Liverpool’s captain was everywhere. He popped up on the right, made late runs into the centre of the box and pushed his team forward whenever he could while working as hard as ever defensively.
LWB: Alberto Moreno – 7/10
Got forward with more regularity than Clyne and was always a good outlet down the left, but neglected his defensive duties when he should have been braver to stop the cross which led to Lukaku’s equaliser.
