Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a move to make Lukaku one of his first signings at Tottenham Hotspur, with the club still keen on finding a solution to the problem of lacking a player capable of playing upfront on his own.
Roberto Soldado has failed to hit any highs since his big-money move from La Liga outfit Valencia, whilst the form of Emmanuel Adebayor is never something that can be relied upon despite his displays under Tim Sherwood towards the end of last season.
Tottenham have shown that they aren’t afraid of spending big fees in recent years, although the belt may have to be tightened somewhat this summer without the Gareth Bale transfer money, meaning that a move for the Belgian would take out a huge slice of Pochettino’s potential spending power.
He would be likely to fit into the high pressing, quick passing game that the Argentine preaches, however, having played successfully in a similar system at Everton last season.
