Mou wants to bring Ronaldo with him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are ready to challenge Manchester United for the signature of £80m-rated superstar Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Real Madrid forward has been linked with a return to Old Trafford under new boss David Moyes but it has emerged that the 27-year-old is also on a summer shopping list put together by incoming Chelsea head-coach Jose Mourinho.
Ronaldo reportedly favours a move to United, who have first option if Real agree to sell the Portugal international, but Mourinho, 50, has worked with his compatriot over the past three seasons and is hopeful of persuading Ronaldo to follow him to Stamford Bridge.
The former United star spent six seasons in Manchester moving to the Spanish capital in an £80m deal in 2009. Ronaldo has scored an astonishing 201 goals in just 199 appearances for Los Blancos but has become disillusioned with the lack of harmony at the club.
Earlier in the season, the forward admitted he was ‘sad’ at some aspects of life at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The former Sporting Lisbon player was sent off in Friday night’s Copa del Rey defeat to Atletico Madrid, as Real finished a hugely disappointing season without a trophy.
Mourinho is also thought to be keen on Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Napoli goal-machine Edinson Cavani, ahead of his second spell in charge in west London.
