Irish golfer looking to get his wayward career back on track.
Rory McIlroy has ended one of the most high-profile sporting relationships in the world after splitting up with tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki.
The Irishman arrived in Korea to begin a month-long tour schedule which is designed to help him focus on his game after a horror year which has seen him slide down the rankings.
A source close to the pair said their busy scheduled played a big role in them breaking up.
“Yes they are over. It’s a difficult time for them both but it is for the best in the long run,” the source said.
“There were a lot of tears. She still has her profile picture on her social-networking site set as the two of them in happier times, but I can tell you the pair are no longer an item.
“Rory has a lot of respect for Caroline and their time together was good, but he feels it’s time to move on now. And he wishes her nothing but the best.”
As is the trend high-profile couples the pair’s names are melded together to give them a nickname and the former number ones in their respective sports were dubbed “Wozzilroy” since hooking up in 2011.
Wozniacki also posted a photo of a sleeping McIlroy mid–last month which is understood not to have gone over well with the 24-year-old.
