Kiwi sensation ready to step it up
New Zealand right back Storm Roux is looking for a breakthrough season at the Bluetongue stadium.
The 20-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Central Coast Mariners over the summer and is looking for a big season with the Champions.
Roux also featured in New Zealand’s U20 World Cup squad which included losses to Uzbekistan and Croatia.
Speaking to Football Australia Roux said: “I was at the U/20 World Cup with New Zealand when I heard that they had offered me a two year contract and it was an amazing feeling.
“To know you are going to be playing with the current champions of Australia under Graham Arnold is brilliant.
Roux said: “He (Arnold) told me that he is pretty comfortable with promoting youth players to senior side.
“If you are good enough than you will get the opportunity to play. I am aiming to get that experience and become a first team player.
“It is my first professional contract so I don’t expect everything to come all at once but I am focused on getting the game time and establishing myself in the A-League.”
The Kiwi’s first match for the Mariners ended in defeat, as Central Coast Mariners lost 2-1 to the club’s academy side.
