IPL Match Preview: Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore…
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will need to win every single game in the group stages from now on to stand a chance of making the play-offs and their opposition on Sunday night, the Chennai Super Kings, are the last team they would want to face in this situation.
Although Bangalore’s batting problems are sorted somewhat by the return to form of Yuvraj Singh and AB de Villiers, their top order batting is still a concern with the likes of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli not being amongst the runs.
Bangalore have been posting big totals in their home games at Bengaluru, but facing up to the spin heavy Chennai Super Kings at Ranchi will be a different ball-game. The likes of Kohli and Gayle cannot afford to miss out too often, and will have to chip in with good scores sooner rather than later.
Chennai’s story has been the exact opposite. The blistering form of their openers in Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum means that the middle order has got very little to do, and barring Dhoni, who thrives under pressure, the rest of the middle order could be exposed under pressure. Chennai do have more effective spin bowlers than Bangalore though, which would suit the surface at Ranchi better and as a result, give them an edge in the contest.
