Jack Wilshere reportedly set to miss Gunners v Liverpool match.
Told Wilshere set to miss Arsenal-Liverpool clash with (another) ankle problem. Story to come….
— Wayne Veysey (@wayneveysey) November 2, 2013
We’ve just spotted the following tweet from Goal.com’s chief footy correspondent Wayne Veysey, who claims Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere will miss today’s top-of-table clash with Liverpool with another ankle injury.
Those familiar with Veysey will know he specialises in Arsenal “exclusives” with varying degrees of success.
Last season, for instance, he claimed in March that Wilshere would miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury, a premonition which turned out to be incorrect.
Veysey also spent the summer convinced the Gunners were on the verge of a spending spree, with Ashley Williams, Julio Cesar and a random Schalke full-back nobody had ever heard of all frequently set to sign at any moment.
That said, it seems odd for Veysey to put his neck on the line about Wilshere’s involvement in today’s match unless he had genuinely heard something. It’s one thing to go out on a limb about transfer, where plenty can change, and another about a player being involved in match which kicks off in mere hours.
And it is common knowledge that the England international has been struggling with his ankles again this term, so there may be something in this.
Watch this space.
