The 27-year-old joins the I-League side for the 2013/14 season from Polish outfit Korona Kielce.
Salgaocar FC have confirmed the signing of Japanese midfielder Seiji Saito from Polish side Korona Kielce.
The Green and Whites have been holding extensive trials during the past month as they look to meet their foreign quota for the 2013/14 season with Saito agreeing a deal to move to the Fatorda Stadium.
His relocation to India comes after previous spells with notable teams like Sao Paolo ‘B’, J League outfits Kawasaki Frontale and Kashiwa Reysol FC and head coach Derrick Pereira is excited to have the 27-year-old on board.
“He is a quality player, physically strong and has played at high levels in Brazil and Poland,” Pereira told AIFF.com
“We have seen him at practice and he fits into our scheme of things. We’re very happy to have him onboard,” he added.
General Secretary Raj Gomes took the opportunity to welcome the Saitama-born player to the club.
“Saito has been with us a couple of days,” Gomes explained. “His positive attitude, will to play for Salgaocar and experience for the last ten years will hold him in good stead. We hope he takes this opportunity to prove his talent and we wish him all the best.”
Former Japan youth international Saito also spoke of his happiness at joining Salgaocar, who finished seventh in the I-League last term, saying: “I will do my best and contribute towards the Club having a good season.”
