Green and Whites have added four overseas players to their roster to fill the permitted quota.
Salgaocar FC manager Derek Pereia says he is pleased with the foreign recruitment work carried out by the club this summer.
French striker Claude Gnakpa became the latest overseas player to sign for the Green and Whites on Monday after completing his move from Iraq-based side Al-Minaa and joins recent arrivals Darryl Duffy, Japanese central midfielder Seiji Saito and Nigerian defender Chika Wali at the Fatorda Stadium.
Gnapka and fellow forward Duffy, formerly of English League Two outfit Cheltenham Town, both undertook a short trial with Salgaocar before agreeing permanent deals and Pereira believes they can form a potent partnership.
“We were looking out for a combination of players upfront and we saw that Duffy and Gnakpa were combining well.” he told Goal.com
“After seeing them (Gnakpa and Duffy) in our training sessions, I’m sure that they will combine with the others and form a formidable combination,”
“The players were coming from an off-season, so we took some time to make a decision, as we wanted to see them at their best.”
The Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI) ‘Coach of the Year’ Pereira was also named ‘Best Coach’ for 2012-13 by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
