Kaepernick skips the spotlight as he gets back to work in the gym.
Declining chances to attend star-studded events including the Oscars and Grammys, San Francisco 49ers star Colin Kaepernick has instead returned to practise early.
The quarterback has reportedly hit the gym instead of the red carpet according to Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows, heading to Atlanta to use the same training facility he used to prepare for the 2011 draft.
Aaron Roberts of CES Performance has been overseeing the early off-season work in Atlanta, but aside from the usual college prospects and NFL veterans, even he was surprised to see Kaepernick.
“A few of our veterans are easing into it. Colin, of course, is here all day, every day,” NBC reported.
Clearly with the pain of the 49ers’ Super Bowl defeat to the Baltimore Ravens still fresh in his memory, Kaepernick is keen to work on his game as early as possible with the end result being able to put himself in the best condition possible to help his team go one further in the new season.
After just a week’s vacation, and a handful of publicity appearances, Kaepernick is back in the gym with intense training schedules, with Roberts stating the 25-year-old is in five days a week and doing eight-hour sessions.
His competitive spirit continues to help him develop his game as he is sure to face defenses better prepared for his offensive runs as he evolves from a back-up to the start of the show.
With the element of surprise taken away from his game, Kaepernick is busy working on other aspects with preparation undoubtedly no excuse for failure.
