San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore sat out his entire rookie season while nursing a knee injury that he sustained in his final season with South Carolina.
The 49ers have still not cleared him to play, but head coach Jim Harbaugh insisted that he will make the active roster. “Marcus is going to be a part of this team, in some form or fashion. I know what he’s got inside of him and I know what he’s capable of doing on the football field. We all do,” Harbaugh told CSN Bay Area.
Lattimore has nothing to worry about when it comes to making the team since the 49ers have already lost two running backs to injury. Kendall Hunter will miss the entire season with a torn ACL, and LaMichael James will miss a month with a dislocated elbow.
Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde are in line to receive the most touches right off the bat, but Lattimore may steal carries if he can fully recover and stay healthy.
