San Francisco 49ers running back Kendall Hunter was waived by the team after it was announced he would be out for the season with a torn ACL.
The San Francisco 49ers received a major blow to their running back unit when Kendall Hunter injured his knee in training camp, and it was announced that he would miss the entire season.
The 49ers will not hold Hunter on their roster, as they will waive him. This decision was announced on the NFL Access Twitter account.

Hunter was expected to be the primary backup to starter Frank Gore since he has the most experience out of the remaining 49ers running backs.
Now that Hunter is gone, Carlos Hyde and Marcus Lattimore are expected to battle for carries behind Gore. LaMichael James will also be in the mix after he heals from a dislocated elbow.
