The 49ers recently lost longtime running back Frank Gore, who signed a three-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
Second-year running back Carlos Hyde is expected to take over as the 49ers’ starter, but Bush will likely help carry the load.
Bush was able to break the 1,000-yard barrier in his first year in Detroit, but Joique Bell saw his role expand as Bush was unable to change his injury history.
He still has the potential to be a serviceable change-of-pace back who can catch passes out of the backfield though.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter announced Bush’s new team on Twitter.
Reggie Bush and 49ers reached agreement, per sources. Bush back in California.
