La Roja know that a win over their Group C rivals would secure their spot in France next summer, as although they held a slender two-point lead at the top of the table over Slovakia prior to kick off, they were still under threat from Ukraine.
However, as expected they started relatively comfortably against Luxembourg, with Cazorla making their pressure pay off as he took advantage of Pedro’s initial effort being palmed back into the danger zone.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether or not boss Vicente Del Bosque is pleased with the performance in his post-game assessment as his side struggled to break the deadlock in the first half.
In addition, he has been left with some injury concerns after both David Silva and Alvaro Morata were forced off due to injury.
