Italian striker has been tipped for a bright future.
Sassuolo defender Luca Antnei has described his highly-rated team-mate, Domenico Berardi, as a ‘phenomenon’ following his impressive start to life in Serie A.
The 19-year-old has scored six goals in his first eight top-flight games for the Neroverdi, but talk has already spread of what the future may hold for him.
Berardi is currently co-owned by Juventus, and is expected to make the switch to Turin in the coming years depending on his progress.
Speculation last month had suggested that he may be fast-tracked by the Bianconeri, or move on with the number of admirers of his talents growing.
Nevertheless, it appears as though he will remain in his current surroundings and look to make a mark in Serie A by keeping the minnows away from danger.
“He’s a calm and shy lad,” Antnei told reporters according to Football Italia.
“He doesn’t act like a phenomenon, even if he is one. You can give him the ball in any manner and he will get it.”
Coach Eusebio Di Francesco has masterminded a turnaround in fortunes for the promoted club after making a disappointing start to the season which included a 7-0 home thrashing by Inter Milan.
They have since moved out of the relegation zone after a draw with Roma at the weekend, but remain a candidate for the drop considering their limited resources.
However, much will now be expected of Berardi in terms of continuing to score the goals to keep them afloat, and it is understood that Juve will be keen to buy out the other half of his contract and install him as a part of their squad moving forward.
