The forward is a target for the Germans.
After signing Kevin Prince Boateng from AC Milan, Schalke 04 are now interested in recruiting Tottenham Hotspur’s unwanted forward Emmanuel Adebayor as well, reports Bild.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to offload the 29-year-old, as Adebayor no longer features in the plans at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Roberto Soldado.
With Schalke having sold Teemu Pukki to Celtic, the club want to make one more attacking signing before the window shuts and are attracted to Adebayor’s pace and style.
Target men Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Adam Szalai are currently at the Bundesliga club, but the two operate in a similar way and the side want to play the Togo international as a foil to one of the pair.
Tottenham have been undergoing something of an overhaul this summer, with six new players having arrived for a total cost that is just short of £100m.

Along with Soldado, the signings of Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Erik Lamela has seen the club’s record transfer broken three times.
However, the impending departure of Gareth Bale will fund almost entirely all of these additions, as the Welshman is expected to fetch a world record £86m.
Adebayor is one of the players Villas-Boas is keen to get rid of though, with the forward having unimpressed last term and been criticised for a poor attitude.
In 71 matches for Spurs the African has netted 26 times in all competitions and was eyed up by Besiktas.
