Meyer is pleased to be named as a target for the Blues.
Chelsea are keen on Schalke 04 starlet Max Meyer and are prepared to pay €15m for the attacking midfielder, reports German source Der Westen.
The 18-year-old has made a big impact in the Bundesliga having broken into the Schalke first team in the latter part of last season.
This term Meyer has been utilised significantly and has already made 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
These games have included two against the Blues in the Champions League, although Schalke lost both legs 3-0.
However, this has not put off the west London side who have adopted a policy of buying up young talent and then developing them with loan spells away from Stamford Bridge.
Meyer meanwhile is pleased to be linked with the Premier League giants and has hinted that he would be open to a switch to the club.
“I’m delighted that I’m so popular but I have only seen it in the newspaper… my agent is responsible [for dealing with that],” the teenager was quoted by Der Westen.
“I feel very comfortable at Schalke, got a great deal… trust my coach and the board.
“My contract runs until 2017, the talks are very good and I hope that an agreement is reached.. I think it’ll be this year.”
Meyer is among a host of youthful talent at Schalke along with the likes of Julian Draxler, 20, and their emergence at such a young age is pleasing for both the club and the German national team.
Germany under-19 international Meyer generally likes to operate in attacking midfield but has also been known to play on either flank with success.
