Sean Abbott has been named in an extended 12-man New South Wales squad ahead of the Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland at the SCG beginning on Thursday.
There were fears Abbott would not play first class cricket again after the trauma of delivering the short-ball that felled Hughes.
However, the Blues have named the fast-bowler in its squad for the clash against the Bulls, but do not have to finalise its XI until Tuesday morning.
Cricket NSW says all players will have the opportunity to withdraw from the squad if they feel they are not ready to take the field.
NSW SQUAD:
Moises Henriques (capt), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Carters, Scott Henry, Nick Larkin, Nic Maddinson, Peter Nevill, Stephen O’Keefe, Gurinder Sandhu, Wil Somerville, Mitchell Starc.
