The Seattle Seahawks have returned to the Super Bowl, and they will face the New England Patriots in the 49th annual game as they look to repeat as champions.
Their defense may have to face a major obstacle though, as cornerback Richard Sherman is expecting the birth of his son in the next week.
There is a possibility that his girlfriend may go into labor on Sunday, and the cornerback would not confirm that he would play in the Super Bowl if his baby is delivered that day.
“And, you know, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there, but, you know, I obviously did not know it was a topic of national debate, honestly. You know, I’d not like to miss the birth of my first son, my first kid, but, you know, thankfully and hopefully and God willing we won’t have to cross that bridge,” Sherman said to NFL.com.
Sherman is hoping that the odds will remain in his favor and that he can see his first kid be born without having to worry about the Super Bowl at the same time.
