Bennett is seeking both to reunite with former Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, who accepted the head coaching job with the Falcons following the Seahawks’ loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX. Under Quinn, the Seahawks were the NFL’s No. 1 defense in both yards allowed and points allowed for two straight seasons.
In addition, Bennett is also hoping to get a larger deal than the four-year, $28.5 million contract he signed with the Seahawks prior to the 2014 season which was the result of his one-year, “prove it” deal he got with the team in 2013. But with Bennett clearly on the ascent, he is hoping to cash in on his pass rushing ability while he is still young and healthy. Bennett has appeared in 48 consecutive games.
In two seasons with the Seahawks, Bennett has recorded 15.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and nearly 80 tackles as well as a fumble-return TD against the New Orleans Saints in 2013.
