Safety Earl Thomas is a 3-time Pro Bowl and was an All-Pro with the defending Champion Seahawks – a Championship they won against the Broncos.
The Seahawks’ Legion of Boom, the No. 1 defense in the NFL defeated the highest scoring offense in NFL history in Superbowl XLVIII. Now the Broncos get an exhibition rematch against the team that humiliated them in that fateful game.
The Seahawks and Broncos are unlikely to play any of their starters for any extended period of time. The Seahawks will likely give extended time to their rookie receivers Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood, while the Broncos will see if free agent pickups Aqib Talib and Demarcus Ware can adapt to the new defense.
Notable Debuts:
Seahawks
Kevin Norwood – a 4th round draft pick out of Alabama, Norwood has the skillset to replace the departed Golden Tate, who the team allowed to walk in free agency
Broncos
DeMarcus Ware – the former Cowboys’ sack-master joined the Broncos after being cut and will be the bookend for Von Miller that the team sorely needed after losing Elvis Dumervil last year.
Notable Returns:
Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch – after a short holdout, the Seahawks gave their star RB a raise and will be glad to see him in preseason action.
Broncos
Von Miller – the Broncos lost their starting OLB for the Superbowl due to an injury, but now he is back with another Pro Bowl season in sight.
Prediction:
N/A – Preseason is not decided by starters
