Raiders QB Derek Carr will start against the Seahawks in preseason action with a chance to win the starting job on the line for him.
The Oakland Raiders host the Seattle Seahawks in preseason action on Thursday in the final game before their respective season openers the following week.
The defending Superbowl champion Seattle Seahawks have been as dominant in the last two weeks of preseason action as they had been throughout their incredible 2013 season, blowing out their last two preseason opponents by a combined score of 75-20. The Seahawks are also the healthiest team in their division in light of significant injuries to the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers in the last few days. The Seahawks are extremely unlikely to play any starters and will likely use the game to determine the team’s final roster spots.
The Oakland Raiders are still struggling with QB issues, with designated starter Matt Schaub sitting out of practices with an injury. Rookie QB Derek Carr has been practicing with the first-team offense and will likely play most of the game against the Seahawks. If he plays well enough and Schaub fails to recover fully from his injury by the start of the regular season, he may even win the starting job outright.
Prediction: Seahawks – Even without their starters, the Seahawks are a formidable team with plenty of depth facing a Raiders unit that still has an identity crisis.
