The Rave Green may see their strongest attacking bill fielded for the first time.
Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid is hoping to field a full strength team for the visit of Portland Timbers on Sunday.
Doubts continue to linger over the involvement of Obafemi Martins, Osvaldo Alonso and Djimi Traore for the match at the Century Link Field after the trio were limited to light training for much of the week and only participated in a full session on Friday.
Schmid expects all three to play at least some part during the game and wants to get Martins on the field at the same time as Clint Dempsey and Eddie Johnson to form, what could become, one of Major League Soccer’s most fearsome attacking triumvirates.
“That’s what we have to see,” Schmid told MLS Soccer. “We haven’t really had the opportunity to play all three of them at the same time.
“We just have to figure it out. You don’t know until you stick them out in a game for sure and see what everyone’s tendencies become and what they do or don’t do when pressure hits.
“That’s when you can really tell if it’s going to work in a certain formation or not. That’s something that’s still ahead of us.”
