The two attackers are fellow Argentina internationals, but are also close friends and Aguero is hoping to use this to his advantage when trying to get Messi to come to England.
“I will try to get Leo Messi to sign for Manchester City,” the 26-year-old was quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“It will be difficult, but it would be good if the best players were in the Premier League.”
Whether or not Aguero could convince his friend to leave the club he has spent his entire professional career at is another matter, but the Citizens will be hoping it is at least a possibility.
Messi is considered to be among the best players of all time, having won a plethora of trophies during his time at the Nou Camp and a record four successive Ballon d’Or awards.
Also at 27-years-old the Barca ace still has plenty of years at the top and could emulate great rival Cristiano Ronaldo by also proving himself in the Premier League.
