Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos did something very reckless against Manchester City today.
The 29-year-old, who is reportedly a major Manchester United transfer target, gave away a penalty late in the first half of a preseason friendly with an outrageous handball.
Ramos has been heavily linked with United this summer. The Metro claimed today that the Red Devils had urged the Spaniard to hand in a transfer request in order to force a move to Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News report that Real’s asking price stands at £65m. That’s a hell of a lot of money for someone who, despite his undoubted brilliance, is prone to errors.
Ramos’s handball against City is very hard to explain. Fortunately, you can watch it below. We have no idea what possessed him to slap the ball.
Mistakes from Ramos are not uncommon. He famously lacks discipline. After all, he has been sent off 19 times in his senior career.
Yes, he is an excellent defender who would improve Louis Van Gaal’s side immediately, but he is not without flaws and, for a player his age, £65m is ridiculous.
