Manchester United will reportedly ask Sergio Ramos to hand in a transfer request at Real Madrid in order to force through a move to Old Trafford.
Ramos has told officials at the Bernabeu that he would like to leave for United, but the Red Devils now want him to make his desire for the move public, according to the Daily Star.
United are convinced that will persuade Real president Florentino Perez to return to the negotiating table, having rejected two previous bids for the World Cup-winning Spanish defender.
However, Spanish newspaper Marca suggests that Ramos, who has made nearly 300 appearances for Real since joining from Sevilla in 2005, is against the idea of disrespecting the club.
Negotiations between the two clubs are complicated by Madrid’s interest in United goalkeeper David de Gea, who only has one year left on his contract and wants to return to La Liga.
Los Blancos are thought to be willing to sell Ramos should they get De Gea in return, but would also be happy to wait until the end of next season to get the shot-stopper on a free transfer.
