Manchester United are a long shot to sign Real Madrid superstar defender Sergio Ramos, with reports suggesting he is close to inking a new deal with Real Madrid until 2020.
Man United still have a faint glimmer of hope in their pursuit of the Spanish international though, as the Daily Express reports that Ramos rejected a £6m bumper offer from Real Madrid.
Ramos is believed to be asking for a deal near £7m, which opens the door for the Red Devils to bid on him.
The 29-year-old defender is currently being valued at £49m, but it remains to be seen whether there is any truth to Man United still having a chance to land Ramos.
The Spanish defender was handed the team captaincy, as longtime goalkeeper Iker Casillas has left the team.
If the Red Devils are indeed still interested in Ramos, they may choose to use goalkeeper David de Gea as a bargaining chip once again, as he is expected to land in Bernabeu.
