Bottom club Pescara sack boss after Udinese loss.
Serie A strugglers Pescara confirmed the sacking of coach Cristiano Bergodi late on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat to Udinese sent them to the foot of the table.
Bergodi took over at the helm of the side, promoted from Serie B last season, when Giovanni Stroppa resigned in late November.
However Bergodi could do little to stop the rot. Pescara have lost 18 times in 27 games so far in a campaign which has left them bottom on 21 points, the same number as fellow strugglers Palermo and Siena.
A short statement on the club’s website pescaracalcio.com read: “Pescara confirms that Cristiano Bergodi has been removed from his post but would like to thank the coach for his effort and his passion.”
Reports said Pescara could promote Cristian Bucchi, a coach with the youth set-up, to the post.
