Italian club lead the chase for out of contract Eto’o.
Samuel Eto’o may well be relieved by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho of his duties as a Blues striker this summer, but the 33-year old has many admirers waiting to swoop in for him.
Among those interested in the Cameroon international are the Blues’ arch rivals Arsenal, but the Gunners may have to forgo another of their striker targets.
Eto’o is said to be interested in a move to Serie-A with AS Roma, and he has already been tipped to join the Italian giants should he be offered his desired £60,000-a-week wages.
The substantial wages demanded by a player at the latter end of his career could be a challenge for some clubs, but it does not look like Roma will back out of a move for the former Barcelona star, which could mean that the Gunners might not get a chance of signing him up.
The North Londoners are instead busy plotting moves for more influential and better long-term targets in Mario Balotelli and Mario Mandzukic.
