Blues remain in the driving seat though to bring Croatian to the Bridge this summer.
Chelsea have a fight on their hands if they want to sign in-demand Lyon defender Dejan Lovren at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The West London club have been tracking the young defender all season and were said to be impressed with his two displays at the back for the Ligue 1 giants in their Europa League knockout ties with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this campaign.
However, it now appears as though a whole host of other suitors have joined the race to sign the Croatia international when the transfer window reopens on June 1.
Serie A giants AS Roma, as well as fellow Premier League outfits Liverpool and Everton are all desperate to land the coveted 23-year-old, although it is understood that the Blues are still in the driving seat to seal a £9 million deal for Lovren, subject to the Champions League holders requalifying for Europe’s premier club competition next season.
