The Serie A giants are ready to give Brendan Rodgers the chance to offload the £16million flop with an easy deal after his disappointing campaign on Merseyside.
Eccentric club owner Massimo Ferrero has been a long time admirer of the Italian international and said: “Balotelli at Sampdoria? Should the player come to Italy we would open our doors.”
It was thought that Balotelli’s move to Liverpool last summer was a golden chance to rebuild his career after going stale at AC Milan, but instead he has made just ten starts in the league, contributing just one goal (four in all competitions).
His form has also been criticised by manger Brendan Rodgers, who claimed to be unimpressed with his work ethic during matches.
However, should Balotelli make the move to the Genoa-based side, he would link up with former Inter teammate Samuel Eto’o.
